In 1994, the congregation of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Calgary, had a vision. A vision to create A Neighbourhood that Cares on a 150 acre plot of land just east of Calgary, in the Municipality of Rockyview. The congregation set about making their vision a reality, and the first building – a K-9 School – broke ground in 1995.
Welcome to our community.
Today, Prince of Peace Village is a thriving community for seniors and their families to call home. The village includes a Church, a K-9 school, 174 55+ Villas, a Supportive Living Facility for Seniors, and a Dementia Care Facility. Community members also enjoy magnificent views of the Rocky Mountains and a country setting. Recreational and outdoor space is abundant and includes many natural and manmade wetlands, including Millennium Marsh with hundreds of migrating species of birds and ducks, and Serenity Lake, the centrally located lake surrounded by walkways. There is also 5 kilometres of pathway weaving in and out of the natural tree groves that dot the property.
In 2014, the vision for Prince for Prince of Peace Village remains the same – to be A Neighbourhood that Cares. The Story of Prince of Peace Village continues with plans for more development on the property. Proposed development plans include the construction of a 55+ condo apartment, the expansion of the Dementia Care facility, the addition of a Hospice, +15 style walkways connecting the facilities to housing units for spouses, and the development of more mixed use buildings for conveniences such as a drug store, deli, and ice cream shoppe.
